There are 4 main types of diabetic neuropathy:-
1. Peripheral Neuropathy
This is most common type and symptoms are worst at night, causing numbness, tingling and burning sensation, sharp pain or cramps, increases sensitivity where in weight of bedsheet can b painful, muscle weakness, loss of balance , foot ulcers etc
2. Autonomic Neuropathy
These are nerves that control your heart, bladder, stomach , intestines, sex organs and eyes...when these nerve are affected the symptoms can be like Lack of awareness of low blood sugar levels, chronic urinary infection, urinary retention or incontinence, either constipation or uncontrolled diarrhea, slow gastric emptying causing nausea , vomiting , bloating and loss of appetite, difficulties in swallowing, decreased sweating, changes the way eyes adapt to night vision in dark, sharp drop in blood pressure after sitting or standing that may cause you to faint or feel light-headed, erectile dysfunction, vaginal dryness, decreased sexual response
3. Radiculoplexus neuropathy
This is a condition affects nerves of thighs, hips, buttocks or legs. Symptoms include severe pain in hip and thigh or buttocks more in day time . Eventual weak and shrinking thigh muscle , difficulty in rising from sitting position, weight loss, abdominal swelling.
It damages to specific nerves in the face , middle of the body or legs.
Symptoms include pain in chin, lower back , front of thighs , chest n abdomen, double vision, difficulty in focusing, bell's palsy ( facial nerve paralysis on one side of face) , aching behind eyes, carpal tunnel syndrome where in your hand become weak and you may drop things!!!
